At a time when nurses are continually struggling to prove their credibility as professionals, the TV movie “Nightingales” was a deplorable depiction. Contrary to the movie’s portrayal, nursing is not a career chosen out of desperation. Nor are nurses strutting their “stuff” down hospital hallways in search of some doctor to rescue them from their drudgery. Nursing is a diverse, high-tech, educated profession and deserves the respect and recognition not gained from this movie. The public also deserves something more truthful.
