A 15-year-old Palestinian boy was shot to death by an Israeli in an East Jerusalem suburb, the first time an Arab resident of the capital has been killed since the uprising began in the occupied territories more than seven months ago. It was unclear from preliminary reports whether the boy, a resident of the Christian quarter of Jerusalem’s Old City, was killed by a soldier or by an Israeli civilian. The shooting set off clashes in the Old City between police and stone-throwing youths, and a police officer was seriously injured and at least 25 people were arrested. Meanwhile, Israeli occupation authorities began forcing all Palestinians in the Gaza Strip to change their license plates and pay a higher car tax, the equivalent of between $150 and $200.
