A jury decided today that two Twin Cities newspapers broke oral agreements with a public relations man by identifying him as the source of a story after promising him confidentiality, and it awarded him $700,000.

In a 5-1 verdict, the Hennepin County jury awarded Dan Cohen $200,000 in actual damages and $250,000 each from the Minneapolis Star Tribune and the St. Paul Pioneer Press & Dispatch in punitive damages.
