Coy Sallis has resigned as an aide to Los Angeles City Councilman Nate Holden a week after being arrested in connection with an alleged bribery attempt, Holden announced Friday.

Sallis, a $21,000-a-year assistant field deputy, was arrested by investigators from the district attorney’s office who said he solicited and received a $1,000 bribe from the owner of Carnation Auto Body on West Pico Boulevard in Los Angeles, who had complained to authorities.

Holden placed Sallis on leave after the arrest and announced the resignation in a short written statement Friday.
