Postal Workers Accused of Throwing Away Mail

Associated Press

Eleven postal workers arrested on charges they tossed nearly 60,000 pieces of mail into the trash were trying to shave time off their work day, a prosecutor said.

The carriers, who were arrested Tuesday, were trying to "save a couple of hours a day of work," Assistant U.S. Atty. Nicholas DeFeis said. The recovered mail will be delivered, officials said.
