The widow of former Pakistani Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto will end her self-exile in Western Europe to campaign for her party in the November election, a Pakistan People’s Party official said. Nusrat Bhutto, 54, officially took over the nation’s largest political party upon her husband’s execution in 1979. Since her exile in 1982, her daughter, Benazir Bhutto, has been the party’s main voice. Party official Malik Hakmeen Khan, quoted by the Pakistan Press International news agency, said Nusrat Bhutto “will return home soon” for the campaign but denied this has anything to do with Benazir Bhutto’s pregnancy. Pakistan President Zia ul-Haq has set Nov. 16 for the general elections, the same time that the younger Bhutto is expecting to deliver her baby.
