Silicon Systems Buys Factory Making Computer Microchips

Silicon Systems has bought a computer microchip manufacturing facility in Santa Cruz from AT&T; Technologies in a move that the Tustin firm said will double its production capacity.

Silicon Systems, a manufacturer of computer memory chips, did not disclose the price for the facility.

The Tustin firm said it plans to employ 100 people at the Santa Cruz facility by early 1989, when the plant is expected to begin full production. The company will also locate a chip design center at the new site.
