Three masked robbers ransacked the Warsaw home of French television correspondent Bernard Marguerite and seriously injured his 84-year-old father-in-law, a source close to the family said. The assault took place while Marguerite and his wife were away, the source said. Their son, Eric, was threatened with a knife by the assailants, who fled when the parents returned home. Marguerite’s Polish father-in-law was reported beaten and his face cut with a knife. In an interview with French radio, Marguerite said that he did not believe the assailants were ordinary robbers. “Unfortunately, there have been a number of dramatic incidents recently in (Poland), which once used to be a haven of tolerance,” he said.
