Your editorial “It’s a Lot of Loot” (July 29) is a given.

The amounts involved are staggering. But likewise staggering is the amount of face-saving (if still possible) to mend the broken fences in terms of a besmirched reputation.

Not all the gold and silver can put back the sheen and the luster of a good name.
