Gains Seen in First Half for U.S. Electronics Industry

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Sales of U.S.-produced electronics goods and services went up sharply in the first half of 1988, growing by 13%, according to the American Electronics Assn.
A record $137.5 billion was set compared to the first half of 1987, the association reported on Thursday. Orders increased to nearly $140 billion, up from $124.3 billion in the year-earlier period and $134.2 billion in the second half of 1987.
