New Yorkers already accustomed to directions on where to park, where to turn and where to stop or stand are getting another instruction--where to eat.

City workers today were to begin spray-painting two-foot square depictions of hot-dog carts, complete with umbrella, at 1,013 locations to mark designated zones for food vendors.

The “Hot Dog Zone” markers are the result of a compromise between Mayor Edward I. Koch and the vendors over where in Manhattan they can set up shop.
