The high rating isn’t for this pop wunderkind’s songs; for all their palatability, they’re so light it’s a wonder those millions of records she’s sold don’t blow away with the first strong breeze. And it isn’t for the four music videos here, though Gibson’s directors have smartly kept things as sweet and simple as her self-penned tunes. What’s most worthy is the way Atlantic has packaged the singer’s first four MTV offerings. Each clip is preceded with a minute or two of introduction from the artist, who displays the same charm she did in this week’s appearances at L.A.’s Greek Theatre. Someone very easy for teen-age girls to identify with as well as admire, Gibson provides interesting information on the videos, her writing, her likes (Billy Joel, George Michael) and her goals. We also briefly meet her band and dancers. A treat for fans.
