Local News in Brief : Food Thieves Sentenced

Share

Two men who were among a number of thieves who stole 50,000 pounds of food intended for the homeless last Thanksgiving were sentenced Friday to 90 days in County Jail.

James Faine, 25, and Dale Murrell, 33, both of Los Angeles, were also sentenced to three years’ probation and ordered by Superior Court Judge Arthur Jean to make restitution in an amount to be determined by the county Probation Department.

The two pleaded guilty in June to second-degree burglary for stealing food from the South-Central Los Angeles offices of Love Is Feeding Everyone. Deputy Dist. Atty. Michael Hall said they were among a group of thieves who “just helped themselves” to the food stored at the organization after it was broken into over the holiday weekend.
