5 Boat People Returning to Vietnam
Associated Press
HONG KONG —
Five Vietnamese who fled to Hong Kong by boat left the British colony voluntarily for home Friday, the government reported.
About 23,000 boat people remain in Hong Kong camps, including about 90 others who have asked to be sent back to the communist nation about 500 miles to the south.
The Vietnamese who arrived before June 16 are viewed as political refugees eligible for resettlement in other countries.
