Alan McCormack of the Wheaties-Schwinn bicycle racing team pulled away from the pack at the end of one lap at the Colorado National Monument and went on to win the Tour of the Moon stage of the Coors International Bicycle race at Grand Junction, Colo.

McCormack was followed closely by Roy Knickman of Boulder, Colo., who races for the 7-Eleven team. McCormack edged Knickman after a sprint near the finish line.
