Davis Phinney earned his third stage victory of the 1988 Coors International bicycle race and cut teammate Alex Stieda’s lead in the overall standings to six seconds by winning the Aspen, Colo., Circuit Race.

Phinney, of Boulder, Colo., finished the 60-mile race in 2 hours 20 minutes 47 seconds.

In women’s racing, Inga Benedict of the U.S. Olympic team won the second stage and moved into first place overall.
