Fears About Home Prices

Share

Your focus on housing (Aug. 7) was another example of formulating the facts to achieve a preordained objective. There is, perhaps unbeknown to your “ivory tower” word weavers, an abundance of affordable residences within the housing market your article describes. Blinded by the Orange County hype of life in the fast lane and big-buck styles of the rich and famous, your journalists ignore the numerous middle-class commuters that cluster along the 405, 55, 73 and 5 freeways. Their dwellings are called condominiums, and those of us who own and enjoy them call them home.

One need only set out on foot in proximity to the urban core, whose center is South Coast Plaza, to find hundreds of incredibly fair-priced condominiums. These one- and two-bedroom dwellings have easy access to freeways and are within walking distance of the county’s best entertainment and shopping. Most of those communities are beautifully landscaped and offer the social and physical amenities not usually offered by Realtors, who are promoting the $300,000 to $400,000 single-family homes.

Your hypesetters ought to get out of their offices and cars and come see us in Santa Ana.
