Teaching Sex Abstinence

We read with great concern your editorial “Sex is Solved!” (Aug. 14).

Our organization (comprised of over 500 health teachers in California) has opposed this legislation (SB 2394) for some time since we are the ones charged with teaching family life and sex education.

Our concern is that the legislators will take your editorial seriously and now will pass legislation ordering kids not to have sex. After that similar legislation will no doubt pass ordering kids not to use drugs. And then the legislators will pass even more laws ordering the kids not to . . .

It boggles the mind!
