The former mayor of Milpitas has been arrested on suspicion of cocaine trafficking, police said. Dick Taylor, 58, who was elected to the City Council at age 28 and later served four years as mayor, is alleged to have had in his possession for sale three kilograms of cocaine, worth $300,000 in street sales. Santa Clara police arrested Taylor on a tip from a confidential source, officers said. Police also searched Taylor’s Milpitas home and said they found one pound of methamphetamines in the trunk of his car as well as $60,000 in cash, which they confiscated. Taylor, once a public relations professional, later sold real estate. Taylor lost a bid for reelection to the council in 1966. A year later, however, he was named one of the first commissioners to the Santa Clara County Housing Authority. Taylor was in custody in the Santa Clara County Jail. Bail has not been set.
