“Lost Angeles,” a documentary about the downtown campground for the homeless that was run by the Salvation Army and sanctioned by the city for three months in 1987, is finally getting a home of its own on KHJ-TV Channel 9. The Tom Seidman film will air at 9 p.m. Sept. 25, the one-year anniversary of the city’s closing of the temporary urban campground. “Lost Angeles” was rejected by most local stations, and Seidman had previously turned down a time slot offered by Channel 9, hoping for a better offer on another station. “(KHJ General Manager Chuck Velona) felt it was important from the beginning, so we decided to move some things and make room for it,” said Walt Baker, KHJ’s program director. “I’m very happy,” said Seidman, who has arranged for homeless persons to watch the program at a downtown homeless center when it airs on Channel 9. “I just hope a lot of people watch it.”
