Swear Off Swearing, Soviet Cleric Pleads

MOSCOW —
A Russian Orthodox archbishop Monday appealed for a special campaign, organized on the lines of previous Soviet drives against alcohol, drugs and prostitution, to be directed against the use of foul language.
The appeal by Archbishop M. Mudyugin of Vologda and Veliky Ustyug was published by the Communist Party newspaper Pravda in an unusual display of cooperation between the church and the Soviet atheist state.
