Following the lead of practically everything else collectible, the prices for pieces of rock history are going through the roof, too. The Phillips auction house in London said Wednesday that a stage costume worn by Elvis Presley sold at a rock memorabilia auction for $43,700--a new record for once-worn Elvisiana. The buyer of the 1972 Presley suit, known as “Shooting Star”: Warren Stone of the Hard Rock Cafe in Los Angeles. Stone outbid colleague Brian Murphy of the London Hard Rock for a telegram sent by ex-Beatle Ringo Starr to his Dutch fans; the price eventually hit $3,000. There were few bids for handwritten lyrics by Bruce Springsteen and stage clothing worn by Michael Jackson, however.
