Cigar Butts

Share

Addendum to David Shaw’s puff piece (“The Cigar Manifesto,” Aug. 14 and Calendar Letters, Aug. 21):

I love the smell of cigar smoke. It reminds me of my grandfather and of old Mr. Schrammerhorn in whose five & dime I worked when I was 15.

It also reminds me of Le Moulin du Roc, a Michelin 2-star restaurant and relais near Perigeuex in France, where one is served after-dinner coffee in the small living room and cigars are offered first to the women, then to the men.

It has a lovely aroma, both sophisticated and cozy. David Shaw can sit next to me at dinner any time.
