Dirty Harry’s Piece

Kudos to Jack Mathews for his marvelous article (“Go Ahead, Make Your Allusion,” Aug. 21).

But, p-l-e-a-s-e! , Jack, don’t wimpify Dirty Harry’s piece by identifying it as a “.357 magnum.” It’s a .45 magnum, “the most powerful handgun in the world,” as his screenwriters claim and as Dirty Harry loves to grit out to the goons in his “Make my day” speech.
