Businessman’s Death Investigated
The results of an autopsy have prompted Anaheim police to investigate the Aug. 19 death of John Irving Bassett, a racing products designer.
Bassett, 46, was found by a maintenance man in Bassett’s apartment near Santa Ana Canyon and Weir Canyon roads in Anaheim Hills.
At first, police treated Bassett’s death as an accident, but they changed their opinion after the autopsy. The coroner’s office refused to comment on the case Saturday, referring all inquiries to the Anaheim Police Department, standard practice in homicide cases.
Bassett, a father of three, operated Bassett Racing in Orange, which designs and manufactures high-performance products for auto and motorcycle racing.
