Westminster Graffiti

As a human being, I feel deep sorrow for the Martinez family of Westminster over their son Frank’s death at the hands of Westminster police, regardless of who was at fault.

But my question is this: If the people of the Sigler Park area, who are now so galvanized against the Westminster police, really care about the image of their neighborhood, why do they allow gang graffiti to exist there? Any person just driving around the Sigler Park area (possibly including young, inexperienced officers such as were involved in the shooting) would think that the W13 gang owns that neighborhood and surrounding streets because of all their graffiti.

I ask the image-conscious people of that neighborhood: Why don’t you take real pride in your neighborhood and not tolerate all that ugly, sleazy, intimidating gang graffiti that taints the whole neighborhood? Why don’t you galvanize against the graffiti and the gang? Why don’t you paint that graffiti out?
