A Sunnyvale construction worker wanted in connection with the sexual assault and murder of an infant left in his care surrendered Sunday to sheriff’s deputies in Sacramento County, authorities said.

Ricky Lee Bellice, 26, surrendered at 3 p.m., said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Kathryn Nielsen. He is being held without bail for investigation of murder, the deputy added.

No other details of the surrender were available from deputies in either Sacramento or Los Angeles counties.

Bellice, who is also known as Ricky Lee Earp, was being sought for questioning in the death of 18-month-old Amanda Doshier of Lancaster, who died Saturday of injuries inflicted while she was sexually abused, Los Angeles County deputies said.

Amanda, the daughter of Cindy Doshier, 22, was kept alive on life-support systems for two days before her death.

Bellice, a convicted burglar, had baby-sat the child at his Sunnyvale home since last Monday with an unidentified female friend, deputies said. On Thursday, he called authorities to report that the child had fallen down a flight of stairs and was unconscious, investigators said.

Bellice’s female friend left the home early Thursday, leaving the suspect alone with the infant until paramedics arrived at 3 p.m. to take her to a hospital, deputies said.
