Mitchell Perfect at Olympic Sendoff

Michele Mitchell, who won a silver medal in the 1984 Olympics, turned in a perfect 10-meter platform dive Sunday to lead the Blue team over the Red team at the “Sendoff to Seoul” exhibition meet staged by the U.S. Olympic diving team at Long Beach.

Mitchell received the maximum score of 10 from all three judges on a back 1 1/2 somersault with 3 1/2 twists.

Two-time gold medalist Greg Louganis could have given the Red its second victory in the two-day meet, but, clowning for the TV cameras, he merely jumped into the water on his final dive.
