Two North Sea oil and gas fields idled by an explosion and fire that destroyed an oil platform and killed 167 men in July will return to production by the end of the year, Occidental Petroleum Corp announced. Los Angeles-based Occidental, whose Piper Alpha platform off Aberdeen, Scotland was destroyed in the July 6 disaster, said it would resume production at its Claymore and Scapa fields in the fourth quarter of this year.
