Persian Gulf War

Share

I read with interest the headlines and articles that Iraq came out of the war with Iran as the winner and dominant force in the Arab world (Part I, Aug. 20, Aug. 22). It points up the effectiveness of the U.N. and morality under its auspices. It’s OK to start an aggressive war to acquire territory. It’s OK to use poison gas, and other chemical weapons barred by international law so long as you come out a winner or at least not a loser, or the end justifies any means whatsoever.

My compliments to the secretary general of the U.N., who seems to have condoned it all. A chilling lesson to all nations to be on the alert and ready for preemptive measures.

This example points out that the U.N., whose birth I attended with such high hopes, was, infact, malformed or became delinquent and malformed as it “matured.”
