Who cares about 4C41.17? Astronomy is light years behind the times on this one. They have to name new discoveries with names that have some sparkle (“Ancient, Distant Galaxy Found,” Aug. 9) and wit.

Since it is “one of the most powerful radio galaxies we know of,” says Ken Chambers of Johns Hopkins University, why not give it a powerful radio name?

Let’s put some humor up there for future astronauts and all the rest of us. Let’s call it Jack Benny--Fred Allen. That’s a lot more fun to say.
