Diagonal Parking OKd at Golden Mall
Bowing to pleas from merchants, the Burbank City Council on Wednesday approved diagonal parking instead of parallel parking in the redesigned Golden Mall shopping area.
Mall merchants had complained that the city’s plan to install parallel parking would provide just 30 parking spaces for customers, compared to 108 with diagonal parking.
The city is opening the pedestrian mall to automobiles in the hope of invigorating the city’s downtown area. Three blocks of the mall, which lies along San Fernando Boulevard, will be opened from Olive Avenue to Magnolia Boulevard.
Officials estimated it will be next year before necessary work can be completed for the opening.
