The Trades Union Congress in Great Britain...

The Trades Union Congress in Great Britain voted overwhelmingly to expel the electricians’ union, its first ouster of an affiliate in 15 years. Delegates of the electricians’ 336,000-member union showed their disdain by walking out en masse minutes before the Trades Union took its vote. The Electronic, Telecommunication & Plumbing Union was ousted for signing two single-union no-strike deals with management in violation of Trades Union policy. The Trades Union believes that such deals weaken union bargaining power and lead to competition among unions for representation in a shrinking job market.
