Shamir Meets Hungarian Envoy, Sees Better Ties

JERUSALEM —
Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Shamir met Hungarian government minister Imre Miklos in Jerusalem on Monday and told him he sees no reason why relations between the two countries should not improve.
Hungary, like all East Bloc states except Romania, severed diplomatic relations with Israel during the 1967 Middle East War. Low-level ties resumed this year with an exchange of interest offices in Budapest and Tel Aviv.
