Varian Board Approves Stock Buyback Plan

Varian Associates Inc. said its board has approved the purchase of 3 million shares of company stock, or about 14% of the company’s 22 million shares of stock outstanding.

Separately, Varian announced it would pay its regular quarterly dividend of 6.5 cents a share.
