Cinematographer Rosson Dies

Harold (Hal) Rosson, celebrated director of photography on pictures ranging from such epic silents as “David Harum” in 1915 to the cherished “The Wizard of Oz,” has died in Palm Beach, Fla., it was learned today.

The third husband of film legend Jean Harlow was 93 when he died at home Tuesday, said his nephew, Robert Terry. Rosson was one of three brothers who came to Hollywood at the early part of the century. Arthur and Richard Rosson, who died earlier, became directors. In 1936 Rosson shared an honorary Academy Award for color cinematography for the desert melodrama “The Garden of Allah.”
