Pakistani jets shot down an Afghan warplane that crossed into Pakistan air space, Pakistani authorities said. A Defense Ministry spokesman said the downed plane was one of several that were intercepted by two Pakistani planes north of Peshawar. The others flew back to Afghanistan, the spokesman said. In a separate incident, three people were injured when Afghan planes bombed three villages about 20 miles inside Pakistan, a police spokesman said. The Soviet-backed Kabul government accuses Pakistan of continuing to back anti-Communist Afghan rebels.
