Israeli soldiers shot and killed a Palestinian man, and a 2-week-old Arab boy died of tear gas inhalation in clashes with troops in the Israeli-occupied West Bank and the Gaza Strip, Arab sources said. Eleven other Palestinians, including two 9-year-old girls, were wounded. The clashes occurred as Palestinians staged a general strike in the occupied territories to mark nine months of rebellion against Israeli rule. In Nablus, 14 Arabs pleaded innocent to charges that they took part in a stone-throwing protest in April that resulted in the death of a Jewish girl who was shot accidentally by a Jewish guard.
