Italian Industrialist Flees From Abductors
Alberto Minervini, bearded, in tattered clothes and with a chain around his neck, arrived at a police station Wednesday and said he had freed himself from kidnapers who seized him a month ago.
The 58-year-old industrialist from Naples and his 15-year-old grandson were abducted Aug. 5 while vacationing in southern Calabria. The teen-ager was released the next day, presumably to pass on a ransom demand.
Several thousand police joined the hunt, but to no avail.
Police said Minervini had been chained to a pole and was in weak physical condition. They said he gave no details of his escape.
