Legion Picks Commander

LOUISVILLE, Ky. —
The American Legion on Thursday elected H. F. (Sparky) Gierke, 45, as its national commander, the first Vietnam War veteran to hold the post. Gierke, a North Dakota Supreme Court justice, was a military judge in Vietnam.
