MEN’S FALL FASHIONS : U.S. Olympic Water Polo Players Show Off Looks That Are Drenched With Style

IT’S HARD TO FOLLOW a sport in which most of the action takes place underwater. Nonetheless, the silver-medal-winning U.S. Olympic water polo team has won an ardent following. The most visible player, 6-foot-3, 210-pound Terry Schroeder, the captain, posed for sculptor Robert Graham’s mammoth statue of an athlete at the L.A. Coliseum and will lead the team again at the Seoul Games, which start next weekend. A Santa Barbara chiropractor and coach of Pepperdine University’s water polo team, Schroeder is considered one of the best two-meter men in the world. Also modeling fall menswear is 6-foot-5 teammate Craig Wilson, a computer programmer from Pacific Palisades, who is considered the world’s most talented goalie and who has placed in 16 national and international tournaments and championships since joining the team. Peter Campbell, of Costa Mesa, is a master of creative outside shots. And Jody Campbell, a Glendale real estate broker, has been Olympian magazine’s Water Polo Athlete of the Year and has been named Most Valuable Player by the National Collegiate Athletic Assn. The four charismatic California athletes are well-suited to the new textures, colors and shapes of fall fashion.
