Inflation registering a 0.9% increase in August was the lowest monthly rate in Mexico in a decade and well below the government’s target of 2%, the central bank reported. Banco de Mexico, in its monthly inflation report, said inflation in August was lower than the 1.7% increase recorded in July. Accumulated inflation for the first eight months of the year was 44.7%, it said, and appears to back government predictions that by the end of the year it will hover around 50%. August’s inflation of 0.9% was the lowest registered since December, 1978, Banco de Mexico said.
