West Germany’s Parliament will hold a special session Nov. 10 to mark the 50th anniversary of the “Crystal Night” Nazi attacks on Jewish people and property, its Speaker said on Thursday.

Philipp Jenninger, in West Berlin for a meeting with presidents of West German state legislatures, told journalists he planned a speech then to the Parliament session.

On Nov. 9, 1938, Nazis launched a series of pogroms against Jews in Germany, destroying synagogues and businesses and assaulting people in disturbances that lasted through the night. Dozens died.
