What Is Quality?

Share

Contrary to Byron Slater (Letters, Sept. 4), I am relieved that the city attorney’s office removed the “Quality of Life” title from one of the growth initiatives. San Diegans are vulnerable to propaganda such as this. Come Jan. 1, San Diegans will pay 1% more sales tax as a result of scare tactics like “Don’t let San Diego become another Los Angeles.”

Quality of life is purely subjective. What kind of quality of life can first-time home buyers, construction workers and related-field employees expect if housing starts are restricted? We have better roads and new schools and parks because developers pay for such necessities.

Before you sign a citizens-group petition that changes the status quo, first determine San Diego’s true quality of life.
