Swedish space researchers released satellite pictures that they said showed sescret Saudi Arabian installations of Chinese-made ballistic missiles capable of reaching most targets in the Middle East. The researchers, attached to the Stockholm-based Space Media Network, a private firm, said the base area was around the Sulayyil oasis, some 285 miles southwest of Riyadh. Saudi Arabia confirmed last March that it had bought a number of Chinese CSS-2 ballistic missiles, a move that upset both the United States and Israel.
