Computer Automation reported a loss of $1.3 million for its fiscal year ended June 30, contrasted with earnings of $1.4 million a year earlier.

The Irvine manufacturer of computer and automated test equipment blamed the loss on a shortfall in revenue from two defense-related programs. Revenue was $21.5 million, up 3% from $20.9 million a year ago.

After recording three profitable quarters, Computer Automation said it had a loss of $2 million in the fourth quarter. Revenue for the quarter dropped 22% to $4.2 million from $5.4 million.
