Local News in Brief : Carson Heir to Be Honored

Share

George Earl Carson, 93, the last surviving male heir in the family for which the city of Carson is named, will be honored at the Festival of California Wines Sunday afternoon at the Rancho Dominguez Adobe, 18127 S. Alameda St.

He will be named honorary padrino of the rancho, which is on the site of the original homestead owned by the Carson and Dominguez families.

Carson is the grandson of George Henry Carson, the 19th-Century Los Angeles official who married into the Dominguez family and became one-sixth owner of the original Spanish land grant known as Rancho San Pedro. His heirs remain active in the development firm known as the Carson Estate Co., which was formed to manage the family fortune.
