Sales of California farm products staged a spectacular rebound last year, partly because of exports sparked by devaluation of the dollar, the Department of Food and Agriculture reported. Receipts to growers totaled $15.5 billion in 1987, up 6% from 1986, according to state Director of Food and Agriculture Jack Parnell. As a result of the 1987 sales performance, California retained its position as the No. 1 agricultural state in the United States for the 40th consecutive year. “California agriculture continues to be one of the most diversified in the world, with no one crop dominating the state’s economy,” Parnell said.
