NEW YORK —
Richard F. Grein, bishop of Kansas since 1981, has been elected coadjutor bishop of the Episcopal Church’s New York diocese and will automatically succeed Bishop Paul Moore Jr. on Moore’s retirement.
The election Tuesday night of Grein required a majority of delegates in the diocesan convention’s two “houses,” one composed of clergy, one of laity.
Other nominees for the position included the Rev. George F. Regas, 57, rector of All Saints Church in Pasadena, Calif.
