Zdenek Macal will conduct the Pacific Symphony’s New Year’s Eve concert at the Orange County Performing Arts Center. Macal is music director of the Milwaukee Symphony and a resident of Laguna Niguel. The program will include three pieces by Johann Strauss Jr. (his overture to “Die Fledermaus” and the “Tritsch-Tratsch” and “Pizzicato” polkas), Richard Strauss’ suite from “Der Rosenkavalier,” Jacques Offenbach’s overture to “Orpheus in the Underworld” and George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue,” with piano soloist Jeffrey Siegel.
